Eyelash Tint
Eyelash tinting - all you need to know
Put away that mascara. Here we tell you all about dyeing your eyelashes. gigi hadid backstage at versaceROSDIANA CIARAVOLOGETTY IMAGES Not everyone is blessed with those luscious Bambi lashes like Audrey Hepburn. Most of us need an eyelash curler and mascara to look fresh and awake in the morning. But imagine if this wasn't necessary? That you could just leave that mascara off and not have to scrub it off at night? You can, by dyeing your eyelashes. What exactly does tinting your eyelashes involve? Think of lash tinting as touching up your outgrowth. The dye causes your natural lashes to become more intense and darker, giving more definition to the eye. The dye itself is likewise similar to what you use on your hair, except that it is specially designed to be completely safe to use around your eyes. It also only takes up to 40 minutes to achieve the right color for your lashes, depending on the darkness you want to go for. It also has the added benefit of making your lashes look instantly thicker, without having to apply a hundred layers of mascara, which always brings those annoying clumps (not a pretty look). How long does the color last on your lashes? Unlike mascara, you don't have to be afraid of one of those nice England rain showers and the lash dye is long lasting. An average eyelash color will last for about a month before you need to work with the paint again. Your lashes will gradually become lighter and lighter. Not because the dye fades, but because the lashes that were covered with dye have slowly fallen out (as your lashes naturally do). That's when it's also immediately time for a new treatment. What should I pay attention to before having my eyelashes dyed? Do not wear lenses to the treatment - with the risk of irritation - and be careful with water and makeup remover for the first 24 hours after your eyelash tinting. Other than that, it's a very quick treatment and you can basically do everything as normal. Is it bad for your lashes? No, not at all. However, if you constantly dye your lashes, they may start to dry out a bit. In that case, use an eyelash serum regularly, which will properly nourish and care for your lashes. It can, but why would you? The goal was precisely to be able to banish that mascara for a while. If you've had your lashes dyed, invest in a good eyelash curler that you use briefly in the morning for some extra va-va-voom. Who is it suitable for? For everyone actually, but especially people who have very light lashes by themselves will notice a huge difference. If you have dark lashes, but want them to stand out more, a smarter option is to go for an eyelash elevator. This acts as a sort of push-up bra for your lashes, giving them more volume and making them look more flared. So anyone can actually dye their eyelashes, but make sure you do a patch test 48 hours before the treatment, as some people can be allergic to the dye or chemicals used. You then apply a small amount of the dye to the inside of your elbow and wait to see whether or not your skin reacts badly to it. Can you dye your eyelashes yourself at home? Yes it can, but it is tricky. You can buy very handy at-home eyelash dye kits, but since it does involve your eyes, we would always play it safe. You never know what can happen after all, and you definitely don't want to get dye in your eyes. So we prefer to leave it to the professionals. |
